About the director:

Andre Rivera is a versatile music educator and performer with over a decade of experience teaching private lessons and leading classes. At Andre Alfonso Music, he teaches all levels of trumpet and guitar, and is proficient in coaching students on all standard band instruments. With a B.A. in Music Education and a minor in Jazz Studies, Andre brings deep musical knowledge and a structured, scaffolded, and fun approach to every lesson.

Specializing in K–12 music education, Andre has taught general music, mariachi, and band in middle school programs, leading successful and engaging ensembles. He is a proud recipient of Illinois’ Crystal Apple Award for outstanding teaching and holds a Professional Educator License (PEL).

As a performer, Andre stays active playing trumpet with the salsa band Salsavera and has shared the stage with touring guest artists, as well as opened for national and international acts through the College of Lake County and Here for the Summer.

Andre believes that every student deserves access to high-quality music education and is committed to helping each learner grow with confidence, creativity, and joy.
